I want to thank you all for posting and helping inform the discussion. I can't imagine the torture you go through with your own bodies, much less the public--especially with remarks as callous as the Tourette's crack. I'm surprised at Discovery for not being better at covering the topic. (I actually thought--or rather, hoped--it would be part of a more-detailed series.) It was disappointing--to say the least--to "discover" that more sensationalism than sense was being used. Please feel free to drop me a line (or links) to help keep the public more informed.

It's nice that this condition is becoming more known but like many of the women who suffer from this condition, it is more important that the information about PGAD is accurate. I would never describe my symptoms as tourettes like. More research is desperately needed.

The program was a big disappointment. It's like dangling a carrot in front of our face then pulling it away. "Jane" claims relief with a drug she apparently took for smoking cessation. She preferred to suffer rather than take the med...well what was the med!!!! I know a whole support group that would love to get relief!!!!
Goldstein was pushing ECT a few years ago....I was desperate...I tried it....all I lost was what memory I had!! Pgad is difficult to live with...it would be nice if some real research was going on for sufferers. We need facts based on research....not opinions based on...what was that again????

That doctor's comment that it was like Tourette really did not help women with PGAD. It is a real challenge to have PGAD without eye-rolling and laughter from the public and comparing it to Tourettes is not a good comparision. If you read about women with PGAD at the PGAD support groups that are online, one would not compare PGAD to Tourettes. There symptoms and onset is very different. Plus Tourettes appears to be a genetic issue and PGAD does not seem to be so. Just do some research on the internet and no one has ever compared it to that and there seem to be more differences between the 2 than similarities.

This will just confuse the public more. Would have been nice if he would have stuck to science and real research. Is that too much to ask for--:(

We agree with you concerning comparing it to Tourettes. There is no scietific research or data to back up that statement that it is like Tourettes.
